D.M.K.

D.M.K. (Dunbar,Merrill,Karl) is a relatively new rock band composed of singer Scott Dunbar, guitarist Ted Merrill, and drummer Brian Karl, often with bassist Percy Trayanov. Drummer Brian Karl, Bassist Percy Trayanov, me, Vocalist Scott Dunbar (from left to right)  I had the privilege of watching D.M.K. perform last October in Baltimore, Maryland. The energy in the room was through the roof. Unfortunately, it wasn't a packed event, but with the high level of excitement, it was easy to believe it was. Guitarist Ted Merrill is a local Marylander, so that only added to the excitement in the room. In addition to the vivacious audience, the passion and love of music held by the band was unmistakable. Vocalist Scott Dunbar showed more love for his band, supporters, and fellow musicians than I've seen in a while. It is clear he is living his dream and doing what he loves most. Combine Dunbar's spirit with the talented work of the instrumentalists and you get a memorable sh...

Midwinter Night - Yara Arts Theatre

During winter break, my cousins and I took a trip into New York City, at the La MaMa Ellen Stewart Theatre, to watch the Yara Arts Group perform Midwinter Night, an Ukrainian concert.  Mostly preformed in Ukrainian, with some English translations throughout and a scene or two in Spanish, it really helped to show the diversities and similarities of different cultures that I am familiar with.              Being a Ukrainian group, going into the theatre I expected to not understand anything they were singing or saying and simply absorbing the traditions of the culture, such as I had done in St. Petersburg when we saw the Russian group give a concert.  It was nice that they translated some of their songs into English and sang part English, part Ukrainian throughout the songs.              The costumes also defi...

Ke$ha Get Sleazy Tour

Search Amazon.com for ke$ha Tour: Get Sleazy Artist: Ke$ha Place: Delaware State Fair Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending a Ke$ha concert that was part of the Get Sleazy Tour. Champagne Champagne opened for her, even though LMAFO opened for most other concerts on the tour. They were noisy haha. But the crowd really got into it and enjoyed it. About an hour later, Ke$ha finally came on! She stayed in a box most of the time, which wasn't too good. Also she only sang for about an hour and did only 2 encore songs, after 20 minutes of screaming fans. The general admission was full, and tickets cost $50, while our tickets were a bit higher up and only cost $45 and were no where near full. I think it should have been cheaper for her to only perform for an hour. Shirts were $35 and some were $40. Super expensive, and they didn't even list Delaware! But, all in all, it was a pretty good concert, mostly though because I know all her songs by heart and love Kesha. I...
